In September 2000, WISE Amsterdam affiliated with the Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS) in Washington D.C., USA. In the past we have often worked together in our struggle against nuclear energy. The formal affiliation in 2000 has resulted in the creation of the world’s largest anti- nuclear/sustainable energy organization. NIRS’ and WISE-Amsterdam’s activities are coordinated internationally, which results in a stronger, more cohesive and more effective message.

Since 2001 the WISE News Communique and the NIRS Nuclear Monitor have merged into a new newsletter, the WISE/NIRS Nuclear Monitor.

The year 2003 marks the 25th anniversary of both WISE Amsterdam and NIRS. We were both founded in 1978 as information and networking centers for citizens and environmental activists concerned about nuclear energy, radioactive waste, radiation and sustainable energy issues. Combining our activities makes us more effective in fulfilling these goals.
