WISE started off in 1978 at one of the first truly international gatherings of anti-nuclear activists.
Its first and main activity was the launch of the WISE News Communique (now WISE/NIRS Nuclear Monitor) meant to be used as a tool to spread the anti-nuclear message.
We then established so-called relays, small offices of dedicated people in other countries who contributed to and disseminated the magazine.
Communication possibilities have dramatically changed since then. The network is still there and in the year 2000 we thoroughly discussed the meaning and importance of the network (the relays).
We agreed upon a new set of rules and criteria for the offices. We are working on this and some of the relays are fully committed and manage to act as a real hub for the WISE network. Others are in the midst of the process! Some of the offices for instance have problems with the English language. Therefore we ask for patience; not all relays will immediately respond to your request. Please contact WISE Amsterdam if there are any problems or complaints.
