Note to Our Readers:

September has been an especially busy month for us all. During this period, a total of four major European conferences on issues relating to nuclear development were held: a conference in St. Petersburg, the Alternative World Energy Conference in Madrid, the World Uranium Hearing in Salzburg, and the Second Global Radiation Victims Conference in Berlin.
In this issue of the "WISE News Communique", most of the focus has been on information gathered at the World Uranium Hearing. We will, in future issues, be bringing you news and reports from the other conferences as well. These future issues will include a Special Edition on the links between nuclear power and environment and development, which we will be publishing in November and which will focus on reports and issues covered by the Madrid Conference. In the meantime, though, we are still plowing through the masses of information generated by the other meetings...
